Crafting a beloved brand
Senior Frontend Engineer

Context
Contributing to LEGO's digital products means working on one of the most performance-sensitive and globally visible consumer platforms in the world. Every interaction is experienced by millions of users across wildly different devices and network conditions — and the bar for quality, brand consistency and technical rigour is correspondingly high.
The Challenge
Performance at LEGO's scale is genuinely difficult. Delivering fast, accessible experiences for a global audience requires disciplined architecture, careful component design and a culture of measurement — not just good intentions. TypeScript strictness, accessibility standards and brand guidelines added constraints that had to be navigated thoughtfully without sacrificing delivery speed or developer experience.
What I Did
I worked as a senior frontend engineer on core React and TypeScript experiences, focused on performance, code quality and component architecture. This was as much about engineering excellence at the individual level as it was about leaving a codebase that others could confidently extend. I contributed to performance analysis, component refactoring and the kind of detailed review work that keeps a large codebase healthy over time.
Outcome
Contributed to measurable performance improvements across key user journeys and helped establish engineering practices that raised the quality bar for the wider frontend team. Code written with enough care that it doesn't need to be rewritten — which is often the highest compliment a codebase can receive.
